BRIDE'S POOL

Public BBQ

Bride's Pool presents one of the region's most expansive barbecue sites, sprawling across multiple tiers near the dramatic waterfalls and Plover Cove Reservoir. The facility's scale is genuinely impressive - though of course, being such a substantial operation means you'll be sharing the space with what feels like half of Hong Kong on weekends, particularly when school groups descend like hungry locusts. The location cleverly positions itself at the trailhead to Bride's Pool Nature Trail, where two spectacular waterfalls provide a scenic backdrop that almost compensates for the inevitable mosquito battalions. The stream runs particularly vigorous after rain, creating swimming opportunities for the brave souls willing to risk the local wildlife. Car parking is available, though finding a spot during peak times requires either exceptional luck or arriving at dawn. The multi-level design keeps the barbecue areas well-organized, with public toilets conveniently positioned roadside. While the 90HKD bike hire from the village below offers an entertaining approach, visitors should pack insect repellent and prepare for occasional drizzle - nature's reminder that paradise always comes with a few catches.
